They maintain vacuum up to 740 mm Hg for 24 hours without greasing, feature the same three-way PTFE stopcock, use the same grease-free silicon O-Ring sealing system, and are fully autoclavable. The only difference is the transparent polycarbonate bottom.
Yes, these all-clear desiccators are fully autoclavable. The polycarbonate construction can withstand standard autoclaving temperatures (121°C). However, always remove the stopcock and O-Ring before autoclaving, as these components may have different temperature tolerances. Allow the desiccator to cool completely before reassembly and vacuum application.
No, these desiccators are designed for grease-free operation, just like our standard models. The silicon rubber O-Ring seated in the internal groove creates an airtight seal without any grease, eliminating contamination risks and simplifying maintenance.
Disassemble the desiccator by removing the dome and stopcock. Wash all components with warm water and mild laboratory detergent. For stubborn residues, use appropriate solvents compatible with polycarbonate. Rinse thoroughly with distilled water. Clean polycarbonate surfaces with soft cloths to avoid scratching. Allow all components to air dry completely before reassembly.
Polycarbonate is scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. To maintain optical clarity, clean with soft cloths and avoid abrasive materials. The material is much more impact-resistant than acrylic, but like all transparent plastics, it can scratch with rough handling. Proper care will maintain excellent visibility for years.
